Yesterday I posted information about going “live and online” with Jim to learn how to create your own customized word search using Smart Notebook. In my example, I showed a Halloween Word Search game as an example of what you’ll create in my class. Since then, I’ve received multiple requests to share my word search activity so you could use it on your classroom SMARTBoard.
Halloween Activities for your SMART Board
I love solving the riddles, especially when they have a Mathematics twist. Here’s a really fun application to play on your SMARTBoard interactive whiteboard called “The Decanting Puzzle.” It’s a wonderful flash game that let’s you solve 6 different riddles related to filling and emptying jugs to come up with the right amount of water. The problem is that the jugs don’t having any markings on them. All you know is their capacity.
One of the first things that caught my eye was Tracey’s mentioning of “differentiated instruction.” Since my creative juices were flowing, I thought I would try to develop a Notebook file that can be used on the SMART Board that not only utilized Tracey’s great idea for using Wordle but also had a way for differentiating instruction.
I recently responded to a question on the SMART Exchange Forum in reference to good Spelling resources for your SMARTBoard. Since I found myself playing around with SpellingCity for half an hour, I thought it earned it’s own blog post. The SpellingCity site lets teachers easily create their own spelling lists and then students can practice improving their spelling skills online.
With over 200 posts on the Teachers Love SMART Boards Blog, you’re sure to find something fun to use in the classroom with your SMARTBoard interactive whiteboard. Here’s a short video that will give you a few tips and tricks on finding the SMART Board resources you need:
Hey Jim! How about some more of those fun little flash games you used to give away. I promise I’ll use them strictly for educational use. :o)
Here are two games that work great with a Smartboard interactive whiteboard:
I love fun and creative ways to introduce math concepts to kids. I just spent the last 30 minutes playing around with a Middle School (grades 5 thru 8) math site called Villainy, Inc. that lets kids play a game to learn about various mathematical concepts. The site is very well organized, it has a standards guide, and it has a very good teacher guide. I think this would be a fun way for the kids to spend a Friday afternoon. The site would be great for kids working in pairs in the computer lab or teacher could guide the class and play these games on the SMART Board. The kids will love working together to help thwart world supremacy.
I know a lot of teachers are looking for some fun activities for the SMART Board this week. I am very disappointed with many of the Internet games I’ve found for the Spring/Easter holiday due to the number of advertisements contained on these websites. Therefore, I’m going to share with you another fun site that will allow your students to create, share, and save pictures using a “Lite Brite” online simulator.
ere are some fun Easter holiday befuddled pictures for your students to unscramble.
