Sites like Thinking Blocks should be placed front and center on your school’s list of Internet resources that work great on your SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard. This site was developed by Colleen King as a way to model Mathematical problems related to Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, and Ratios.
Some online resources help make the decision to have an interactive whiteboard in the classroom an easy one. When you use an IWB to see and interact with a resource like National Geographic’s MapMaker 1-Page Maps, it’s difficult to justify “not” having an Interactive Whiteboard. This interactive map resource allows you to explore in detail different areas of the world. All you do is select a region of the world and then select a country. It even includes more detailed views of the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Here’s a fun activity that works great on the SMART Board called Circle The Cat. The objective is to trap the cat so it cannot escape. To trap the cat, you need to encirle it with green dots. It’s really quite addictive and lots of fun as well. The only tip I can give you is to pay attention to the green dots that are already in place when the game starts and try to utilize those as much as possible.

This site contains the most incredible collection of research-based, interactive, Physics simulations anywhere on the Internet. Best of all, these simulations are free to use online or download to your computer.They are a must-have for teachers with Interactive Whiteboards in the classroom.

My heart lights up everytime I see a teacher sharing high quality educational resources. I get doubly excited when the resources are selected because of how well they work with the SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard.
This is why I’m highlighting Mrs. Hurley’s ESL website. It’s obvious to me that this is one of the most helpful teacher-created sharing resources found on the Internet.
In all my workshops, I find that I never miss an opportunity to recommend the WatchKnow website for finding educational videos for the classroom. This is also a great place to locate videos that you may want to download and incorporate into a Notebook lesson file.
I love adding animation to the Notebook lessons I create. Animation is a great way to excite your students and get their attention. To state it more succinctly, animation is fun!
Animation can be used to convey an idea, concept, or thought in a way that words, still pictures, and audio cannot. Animation also has advantages over a movie when trying to teach certain concepts or skills and it requires a lot fewer computer resources.
