Here’s a fun K-2 activity for the SMART Board called The Green Snoop Monster that helps students recognize relationships between numbers, number words, object quantities, and simple expressions.

The activity contains 10 different pages that increase in difficulty by introducing values and quantities using different number models. On each page, students are asked to “Snoop” for the smallest value in the set. Number lines are provided on each page to help solidify the relationship between the values.

My heart lights up everytime I see a teacher sharing high quality educational resources. I get doubly excited when the resources are selected because of how well they work with the SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard.
This is why I’m highlighting Mrs. Hurley’s ESL website. It’s obvious to me that this is one of the most helpful teacher-created sharing resources found on the Internet.

Here’s one of my favorite interactive websites for children aged 3 to 7 to help them with their reading and writing. It’s called Between the Lions and it’s based on the PBS television show with the same name. It’s really an incredible site that contains games, videos, stories, printables, downloadable music, and much, much more.

Looking for something fun AND educational for your SMARTBoard? Okay, that’s a retorical question but it really sums up the Invention at Play site on the Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation (maybe the can “invent” a shorter name).
The Invention Playhouse has four flash-based interactive activities for your students to use at the SMART Board. The Cloud Dreamer activity lets students create their own cloud image and then see it float across the sky. The Puzzle Blocks is a fun activity for manipulating shapes to create an image; Word Play lets students create and change unique stories in a fun and collaborative manner; and the Tinker Ball activity lets students move and manipulate tools to solve a simple gravity problem.

Here is a nifty site called Edheads that provides various interactive activities for your SMARTBoard interactive whiteboard.

My last blog post highlighted a wonderful site for reviewing procedural methods for solving fraction, decimal, and percents problems. Here are a few other interactive sites that I found that help students understand and communicate using fractional notation. These all work great on an SMART Board.
